June 20, 2015 Mini Album Page Elements

Hi everyone!

Ide Ratherbee's next  crop date is Saturday, June 20, 2015, 4 pm-midnight.

We are continuing with learning the basics of building a mini album. In June we will be teaching how to create page elements... waterfall photo mats, flip flap pages, accordion pages, gate-fold flaps, decorating envelopes, belly bands... plus whatever else we can think of that would make your interactive mini album fun and interesting.

Please bring your completed mini album skeleton, decorative papers, file folders, embellishments, magnets, string, glue, tape, hot glue gun (perhaps), scissors, paper cutter, scoring board, self-healing cutting mat and Exacto knife, punches, ruler, and anything that will enhance your mini album. Dig through your stash and use what you've got!

To change the color of the file folders, (the parts that will be used for the spine and hinges), to match your decorative papers, you can use craft paint (the 2 oz bottles), I recommend glossy rather than matt as it looks a little bit more classy. The cheapest place I've been able to find craft paint is at Walmart for $.97. Exact same craft paint you can get at JoAnn's or Michael's, for a whole lot less. Another alternative is to use Ranger's alcohol inks to create a different/interesting look. Whatever your decide to do, allow ample time for drying.

If you plan to use the awesome little magnetic discs, now would be an excellent time to get yours. I have not been able to find any place in town that carries them, but Amazon has a very good price for them. Here's the Amazon link to the magnets - Basic Grey Magnets

If you have not had the opportunity to join us for the very basics of learning to make a pocket mini album and would like to, please bring a good glue such as Zip Dry or perhaps a clear scrapbooking glue like Scotch Scrapbooking glue, the one with the purple caps, Elmer's Craft Bond glue pen is also excellent for this project, double-sided tape, I will provide you with the first 3 file folders to get your started, also bring cardstock to create the pocket pages -- and most importantly, PLEASE bring paper and pen to take notes. These notes will be invaluable in your future mini album making endeavors. One on one assistance is available. Please drop me a quick e-mail and let me know if you are interested.

As a reminder, making a mini album is a lengthy process. And that is why the steps are broken out into separate classes. The classes are free when you pay for your space at the crop.

If you are interested in learning to make mini albums, or have any questions, please feel free to drop me an e-mail at

You can also find us on Ide Ratherbee - Facebook

Whew!!! See you June 20th!

Mini Albums...continued

Hello again -

1- If you are planning on making mini albums with the magnets, now is a good time to purchase them. I have been able to find them only on-line - Amazon is a good place. They are the Basic Gray small magnetic discs, 3/8 inch x 1/32 inch. They come 10 pairs in a package.

2- Ide's next two crop dates, May 16th and May 30th, please bring your supplies to make just the skeleton of the mini album. If you have not already taken notes, please bring pen and paper. It IS all about the math. And one-on-one assistance will be available.

3- For our June 20th crop, please bring your completed mini-album skeleton and any decorative papers, file folders, magnetic discs, spray adhesive, glue, string, your tools, etc., etc. This class is learning how to build/decorate your pages. The class is free when you pay for your space at the crop. I don't know how long this will take. We'll try to cover as many page elements as possible, and save the others for July's crop. Again, please bring pen and paper for notes.

Please feel free to e-mail me directly at with any questions.

See you there!

Mini Tophats & Ide's 2nd March Event

Anyone can buy a ready-made, pre-manufactured tophat to decorate. What's the fun in that?

Ide, Angie, Jennifer, and Karalee will be offering classes to learn to make your own unique Mini (cardstock) Tophat(s) during our next few crops.

For $2, we will provide you the pattern, hands-on instruction, along with elastic for the headband, and select embellishments.

Here are some pictures of hats made at our last crop, March 15th.

Our NEXT EVENT is Saturday, March 29th, 4pm-midnight at A New Beginning Adoption Center, Boise, Idaho. Please contact Jennifer or Angie to reserve your seat. Find us on FACEBOOK.

In the meantime - here are some pictures of mini tophats recently made by some of Ide's friends. Let your imagination run wild.
